Scammers may use scam techniques to trick you into transacting outside of the Shopee platform. Protect yourself from scams by following these tips:

4. Update your contact information

Updating your contact details will help to protect your account. It also enables us to get in touch with you quickly. If you have a new phone number, address and/or email address, update your contact information as soon as possible to ensure that your contact information stays accurate. You can update your contact information by going to My Account.

What can I do if I have been phished on ?

Phishing is an attempt made with the intention of gaining access to your account by stealing your sensitive information such as passwords and credit card information.

For example, John receives an SMS claiming that he won a lucky draw. In order to claim his prize, John would have to key in his username, OTP and credit card information via the link sent through the SMS.

Phishing email / SMS may have the following characteristics:

      1. Requests personal information such as your credit card number

      2. Contains unsolicited attachments

      3. Contains a forged link

      4. Urges you to act quickly

      5. Uses a generic greeting such as "Dear User"

      6. Is unprofessional, contains spelling mistakes and bad grammar
